Thaw
Meat, Fish, Vegetables and Fruit from the Freezer |
|
Correct thawing of frozen food is just as important as
freezing correctly. The thawing process affects the texture, flavour and
nutritional value of all frozen food.
We give thawing times and methods below for meat, fish, vegetables and
fruit. |
Thawing Meat
 |
Meat is best thawed in the fridge but it can also be thawed in a cool part of a
room if space in the fridge is at a premium. Time is also a consideration.
Meat in the fridge takes about 5 times longer to thaw compared to room
temperature.

Thawing Fruit
 |
Fruit can always be thawed in the fridge but there are circumstances when
thawing at room temperature is just as good. It all depends on how you plan to
use the fruit. At a pinch, fruit can be thawed much quicker under running
water. Click here for more details on how to
