 Chocolate Cake Recipe

Chocolate Krispies for kids to cook

So simple to cook that your kids can do it almost all by themselves. As well as being extremely tasty, they can be decorated with Smarties, butter icing or anything else to hand.

Remember to supervise your children whilst they are cooking.

INGREDIENTS
60g / 2oz Milk chocolate
30g / 2oz Rice Krispies or Corn Flakes
Smarties

FOR THE BUTTER ICING
140g / 5oz butter
280g / 10oz icing sugar
2 tablespoons of milk

METHOD

If making the butter icing, take the butter out of the fridge to allow it to get to room temperature.

YOUR CHILD - break up the chocolate into small chunks and place in a bowl.

YOU - Boil some water, pour it into a large bowl and place the bowl of chocolate in the hot water. After about 10 minutes the chocolate will melt and the bowlcan be removed.

 

 

 
YOUR CHILD - pour the Rice Krispies / Corn Flakes over the melted chocolate. Gently mix the the chocolate and Krispies so that they are totally chocolate coated.Either place spoonfuls on a plate or into cup cake containers. Place the chocolate Krispies in the fridge for 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set

IF MAKING BUTTER ICING
YOUR CHILD -
Add the butter to a bowl and pour in all the milk and half the icing sugar. Beat hard with a fork until well-mixed. Ad the remainder of the icing sugar and mix well again with a fork.
 



     
YOUR CHILD - The cooled cakes can be decorated any way you wish. Simply putting smarties on is great. Alternatively, spread a little of the butter icing on top of the cakes and sprinkle decorations on top.
