Pancho Tapas Bar, Warwick
|
A newcomer to Warwick, Pancho opened as a tapas bar in April 2011. It's
a 30 seater inside, soon to be enlarged, tapas bar just off Smith Street in
central Warwick. Excellent quality, freshly cooked food are their
hallmark. |

PANCHO TAPAS BAR, WARWICK
The current site of Pancho has been a bar / restaurant for
many years with the last occupants, the Cellar, vacating the site two
years before Pancho opened up.
|
The interior is cellar style which gives it great atmosphere lunch
time or in the evenings. Outside is a very attractive walled patio area
which is a sun trap. Pancho's has to be one of the best ways to have
lunch, quick or leisurely, on a sunny day. The service is more than
quick enough for a meal and a beer or wine in your lunch break. |
The tapas ethos is changing around the world, especially in
Spain. For many years, tapas was always associated with eating small
portions of exclusively Spanish type food. But nowadays, tapas is more
an eating style rather than a type of food. Pancho Tapas Bar has
embraced this changed concept to the full. |
|
|
All your favourite Spanish dishes are on the Pancho menu but there is
also an increasing emphasis on other cuisines. These are all served in
the traditional tapas small portions but now you can experiment with few
non-Spanish foods as well.
How's about a tapas portion of Chicken Thai
or Swedish Style Potato Salad? Sounds good to us! |
THE FOOD
At the moment there is a choice of 26 tapas dishes ranging from
traditional Spanish fare such as Chorizo to more exotic tapas from
around the world. The portions are generous and if you take up the 3 for
£10 you will have more than enough for a meal. It all comes with
complimentary warm bread which is delicious. |
|
|
We tested lots of the tapas dishes and none disappointed
although we were particularly impressed with the Greek Chicken,
the Carne con Papas Canarias and the Portobello Belle. The
quality of the food and its preparation make Pancho our
favourite tapas bar in Warwick. Below are a few pictures of some
of the tapas available. |

SERVICE
All tapas are served to your table as are your drinks. Service was
prompt and courteous without being over-bearing.
DRINKS
Pancho is now fully licensed and they have a good range of wines and
beers at reasonable prices. Our only criticism was that the range of
soft drinks was rather limited. For instance they didn't have any of the
popular J2O drinks.
SUMMARY
A good value tapas bar serving top quality food in pleasant
surroundings. The patio area was especially pleasant on warm day. We
were more than impressed by the choices on the menu with Spanish
favourites and our cuisines being well represented. A good choice for an
evening meal or lunch. Well positioned for parking in the Priory Road
car park just off Smith Street. The Pancho Tapas bar is a 45 second walk
from the car park.
