How to Get to the Good Food Show,
NEC, Birmingham 2009

The NEC is about eight miles east of Birmingham and the full address is:
Birmingham NEC
Birmingham
B40 1NT
BY CAR
The following major roads have signs on them directing you to the NEC. They are the M6 (junction 4), M42 (junction junction 6), A45 and the A446.
For directions, click here to go to the excellent Multimap site. Enter your start town and the destination as B40 1NT.

A good free site for finding out about traffic jams and road works in the UK is Traffic England.

As for traffic jams, if you arrive at the show any later than 10am then be prepared for queues on the surrounding roads and into car park. Get there as early as possible is our advice for avoiding traffic jams around the NEC.

BY RAIL
The rail station for the NEC is Birmingham International, this is NOT the same station as Birmingham New St. There are trains between Birmingham International and Birmingham New St at approximately minute intervals, slightly less on Sundays but still an excellent service.

When you get to Birmingham International follow the signs to the NEC. It will take you about 12 minutes to walk from the station to the NEC. Part of the walk has moving walkways to make it easier on your feet.

Trains to Birmingham from around the UK are good, it is a major terminal. A good site for rail prices, planning and journey times is National Rail Enquiries.

BY COACH
If you plan to travel independently by coach to the NEC then the nearest coach station is Digbeth Birmingham. The 900 bus operates a service from Digbeth to Birmingham International Station, The busses run approximately every 20 minutes with a journey time of 25 minutes. Once at Birmingham International Station follow the instructions for "BY RAIL" above.

PACKAGED TRIPS
As the date of the show gets nearer there will be a variety of packaged offerings which include coach travel to the NEC and often one or two nights in a local hotel. Click here for the ones we have found on the internet so far. Note that these trips are NOT arranged by CookUK and we are in no way endorsing them.
