Welsh Rarebit a la Diablo Sandwich Toaster |
|

The traditional Welsh Rarebit is excellent when toasted with the Diablo
Toasted Sandwich maker. Fast but truly tasty snack food.

|
INGREDIENTS
Two slices wholemeal brown bread.
Quarter of an onion.
60g / 2 oz of Cheddar cheese.
Half a teaspoon of English mustard
Sprinkling of cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon
of dried sage

For the purists, yes
the beer is missing from the Welsh Rarebit recipe. But we tried it with beer and the whole
thing became a bit soggy.
PORTIONS
1 toasted cheese, onion and pickle sandwich.
TIMINGS
About four minutes each side on a pre-heated Diablo toaster.
PREPARATION
Pre-heat the Diablo on your cooker while preparing as below
Grate the cheese and finely chop the onion.
Cut the corners off the slices of bread
COOKING
 |
Even for the most inept cook amongst us this recipe is the easiest ever! Put all
the ingredients (excluding the bread of course) in a bowl and mix them together
well. Place one slice of bread in the Diablo and pile on the ingredients. Top it
with the other slice of bread and clamp the Diablo Toasted Sandwich maker shut. Cut
off any excess bread with the blunt side of a knife. |
Cook for four minutes on each side and serve immediately. So tasty!
