THE ORANGEMABEL TEAROOM

The Orangemabel Tearoom was first opened in July 2011, previously being a small garden centre. The idea behind the tearoom is to serve traditional English High Teas in beautiful surroundings. It is part of the Longbarn Village set in the beautiful countryside of Alcester Heath.

Also in the village is The Chefs Dozen Restaurant, Longbarn Photography, Occasions by Design (wedding gowns), The Art Depot (original art), The Lagoon (hair and beauty salon), Truly Madly Weddings (everything for weddings) and Truly Madly Prom (Prom Specialist). A little bit more about these shops later in the article.

The setting for the Orangemabel Tearoom is a beautifully restored barn with lots of original beams and walls. A very impressive building and courtyard set in peaceful and beautiful countryside.

THE INTERIOR

The minute you go through the door of the Orangemabel Tearoom it's clear you have visited somewhere special. The food is excellent, as we describe below but the decor is also part of the experience.

The four tables are set out with individual tablecloths, cutlery and tea service. Even the chairs are of different designs; lots of thought has been put into selecting everything in this tearoom. It feels like stepping into a bygone world of elegance.

Much of the Vintage China is on display in a spectacular highly decorated, solid wood dresser. The tearoom is spacious, definitely not cramped but at the same time the decor consists of a huge number of curios and art.

We particularly liked the church pulpit and the church seat with back box for prayer books. All elegantly laid out with a very relaxed atmosphere.

THE FOOD

High Teas, Cream Teas and delicate sandwiches are the food on offer at the Orangemabel Tearoom. Our English High tea was served on tiered plates with a choice of teas, coffees, soft drinks or alcoholic drinks.

The English High Tea is a selection of sandwiches, crisps, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, all topped off with a delicious slice of freshly made cake.

The quality and presentation of the food is exceptional, quite out of the ordinary. Prices reflect the setting of the tearoom, its decor and the beautifully presented food. Cream Teas are £5.00, Mini High Tea is £10.00 and a full English High Tea comes in at £15.00.

A good selection of sandwiches with salad and crisps cost £5.00 and the Fruit Tea Cake with strawberry jam and tea / coffee costs £4.50. If you just want to admire the surroundings at minimal cost then order the leaf tea / filter coffee with a biscuit for just £2.00 - now that really is a bargain for such elegant surroundings.

OTHER FEATURES

Above the tearoom is a large, beautifully decorated room for wedding receptions and other events. Combine this with the gardens at back of tearoom and you have a wedding reception area which would be hard to beat anywhere. If you are planning a wedding or celebration then this venue really should be on your shopping list.

For wedding preparations some of the other shops on site provide a one-stop resource which is hard to beat.

SUMMARY

The Orangemabel Tearoom is highly recommended by us. An hour or so spent enjoying a delicious High Tea in elegant surroundings followed by a walk in the fascinating gardens will take you back in time, we certainly enjoyed it.
